If you happen to be strolling around Rome, perhaps in the heart of Testaccio , and perhaps you feel like sipping some excellent cocktails prepared according to the rules of the art, we have discovered a timeless refuge that will certainly shock your palates.
In a vision that subverts the order of priorities, Angelineria presents itself as a cocktail bar with a kitchen , where culinary art stands as a pillar of mixing, inverting the traditional hierarchy. The inauguration on December 15 was marked by the presence of bar manager Gianluca Morini , defined as more of a “performer” than a barman, thanks to his past as an actor and director. Morini positions himself at the top of the Roman music scene and takes on the role of artistic director, introducing music into the food and wine offering with the ambitious intention of extending to other cultural areas.

At Angelineria, visitors are greeted by a giant poster of Emma Maud Stevens , an American muse who lived between the end of the 19th century and the 1960s. Stevens, one of the first female tattoo artists, embodies the freaky, extravagant icon who welcomes customers into a space that moves between the Eternal City’s thousand-year history and a Gattopardo-esque atmosphere .
Inside the vast horseshoe-shaped space, with vaulted ceilings that recall ancient caves used as warehouses, the stylistic coordinates are outlined by an eclectic mix of vintage details.

Beyond the double bar, a jewel of Umbrian craftsmanship, maestro Gianluca Morini composes over 60 balanced alchemies between taste and smell : signature cocktails, exclusive spritzes and refined creations inspired by tradition ranging from the early twentieth century to the fifties. The masterpiece of the house is the ” Angelineria “, a combination of mezcal, raspberry liqueur, cognac and mint leaves. Among the peculiarities of the place, the Himbrini London gin and the Old Tom stand out, both the result of the collaboration between the Roman entrepreneur Junio Carchini and an Icelandic master distiller. The distinctive feature is the distillation of the gin with geyser water.
In this hidden corner of Testaccio the idea of ” drinking a fairy tale ” comes to life : the Angelineria invites you to immerse yourself in the intoxication of a sip, to let yourself be transported by a symphony of flavours and to live a timeless experience, combining the charm of the Belle Époque with the timeless elegance of the New York style of the 1950s.
