Da Orient

Da Orient (which many of you might remember as Orient Express Vintage) is a concept store pairing vintage fashion with irresistible ’70s and ’80s appeal, alongside colourful vinyl records and a cosy, stylish cocktail area and wine bar for an after-work aperitivo or a late-night drink. The shop was opened by three young entrepreneurs: brothers Riccardo and Marco Augeri, together with Marco’s partner Camilla Finocchiaro Aprile, who divides her time between the venue and working for a fashion brand.

A truly charming, colourful and unconventional concept store, its charismatic retro look was designed by Turin’s Velvet Studio, which also chose the space for its Milan base (setting up a private studio) to look after its Milanese clients. Da Orient brings together the three founders’ past and present experience in fashion and food and beverage, inviting guests into a contemporary fairy tale to wear, listen to and taste, immersed in the mood of the ’70s and ’80s whose style still commands shop windows and catwalks today.

Discovering Da Orient is an immediate delight: the kind of place you will love because it offers a genuine experience in a vibrant part of town, between Porta Volta and Milan’s Chinatown. The atmosphere evoking historic eras in fashion, taste, music and design is instantly engaging. Yet the shop’s secret is the freedom to do several things—or just one if you prefer: pick up vintage clothes or accessories that make an outfit truly your own, find that vinyl record you have been hunting for to play on repeat and display in your living room, treat yourself to a glass of wine or an aperitivo after an ‘intense’ shopping session, or sip a cocktail at leisure after dinner.

The shop stands out on Milan’s concept store scene for its opening hours as well: Da Orient welcomes you from Monday to Saturday, 11.30am to 11pm. If for you an evening means night-life, you are still in the right place. Alongside an enticing drinks menu, the space hosts evenings with DJ sets (powered by a cutting-edge sound system) to kick off your weekend in style, in every sense. Finally, the venue is also available for private hire, including catering on request.
