Lively Milan, Milan in September, with that milder, “just right” climate that if it rains, it’s a tragedy, but if it’s hot, it’s too hot. But the Milanese like it the way it is now as do the foreigners, who never miss a chance to gush over that “Made in Italy” that sends them into a magical dream state during fashion week. Of course moods can rise and fall based on the clouds or the sun as glimpsed through the buildings of the city centre, a bit like the trends in the fashion biz, but the fact is that people like Milan. Because this is Milan with that perfect sophisticated balance. Milan is glamorous, smart and flawless…
The first day concluded, from one fashion show to the next, from slick events and unexpected encounters in the luxury fashion district and prestigious surprises. Like as when you are entering the Vogue Next Talent Night, and you see President Carlo Capasa, who is in a hurry yet cordial just as was the good Mr. Boselli, from whom he has most certainly inherited that certain je ne sais quois that makes everything he says charming. Or then there’s the legendary Suzy Menkes out and about, getting out of her Mercedes with the front-roll in her hair. She’s ultra elegant, glamorous and one of a kind, like Anna Piaggi from times gone by…
And so here we are getting ready for the second day of work, which follows the rhythm of the events. Starting at 9:30 a.m. with Max Mara, Genny, Luisa Beccaria, Fendi, Ports 1961, Anteprima, Emilio Pucci, Les Copains, Cristiano Burani, Prada, DanielaGregis, Byblos Milano, Moschino, and ending with Daizy Sheley. But if you need to know the wheres and whens, just consult the official app with the calendar from the Camera Nazionale della Moda (which will give you times and addresses better than we could sum up in an article).
The Giorgio Armani photo exhibition Emotions of the Athletic Body is not to be missed. It’s taking place at Armani/Silos in via Bergognone 40 (invitation only) at 1 p.m. And Curiel History and Future in via Formentini 10 (invitation only).
Other events worth mentioning are Via delle Perle in via Sant’Andrea 21 around aperitif time, the Hogan dinner party in Piazza Vetra (invitation only) and the presentation of Chiara Boni’s perfume (also in Sant’Andrea). Right after, there’s the MFW cocktail party at Hotel Manin in via Manin, for those that love historic Milan, which is still always very glamorous.
The locations we recommend today: Rotonda della Besana, Hotel Manin and the luxury fashion district.
The restaurants we recommend today: Armani/Nobu, Bagutta, Don Carlos and for the smart set there’s the Brian & Berry Building with its amazing hamburgers, with gluten-free versions as well.
