Kowa

The new pan-Asian taste of Milan

After months of waiting, inside the 5-star hotel Fifty House, Kowa finally opened, a restaurant that fully reflects the style of the hotel: international, modern and cosmopolitan as the city that hosts it. Kowa was defined “pan-Asian” by Andrea Reitano, its patron, a young entrepreneur who found success in London and now wants to conquer Milan. As a guarantee that this place is a must try there’s also the appointed Executive Chef, Jeff Tyler, who previously worked in London restaurants like Roka, Zuma and Novikov and now offers an avowedly fusion cuisine, inspired especially by the typical dishes of China and Japan.

The design of the restaurant confirms its philosophy: eastern notes, elegance, modernity and inspiration. The large windows have geometric decorations, sofas and velvet armchairs are combined with contemporary paintings, the black walls are illuminated by turquoise pop tones and brass details. The oriental touch is given by the red curtains and lamps reminiscent of the classic Chinese lanterns which, instead, are all-white.

Kowa, anyways, isn’t just a beautiful place but also has, and fortunately so, substance: ingredients of the highest quality are the soul of dishes such as sushi, sashimi, miso black cod and dumplings scalded with shrimp and spices. Non-fish lovers will still have their satisfactions by trying the cockerel with spicy sauce on celeriac cream or the fine Japanese Wagyu meat, the excellence of the cuisine of the rising sun itself. The restaurant also leaves its mark on the beverage side: the well-stocked cellar (about a hundred bottles) is certainly able to find worthy pairings for the sophisticated dishes. Even the mineral water is distinguished by its style: the bottles are, in fact, beautiful cylinders covered with black velvet signed with the Kowa logo.

For the summer, the restaurant has still some surprises: it will open a garden with sixty seats distributed around the fountain with a typically Asian style and for private or special occasions will be available a private room with only fourteen seats. With Kowa the Fifty House hotel added its icing on the cake and its customers a new restaurant that just can’t be missed.

We can't. That's why every week we share the best experiences milan has to offer.
