La Scaletta

A gourmet oasis, between centuries-old tradition and culinary innovation

On a quiet corner overlooking the crowded Porta Genova, the definition of the La Scaletta restaurant could seem almost an oxymoron to those unfamiliar with this place, which once passed a high metal gate and crossed to the large wooden entrance door, protecting the interior from the rattling of the trams, the traffic and frenzy of Milan, and leaving room for an intimate and welcoming location, where attention to detail and customer care reign supreme.

A story of food and wine that began in the eighties, when the famous Chef Pina Bellini brought her local history with her to win two Michelin stars with a cuisine made of tradition and high quality fresh ingredients, impeccable service and art de la table as a true Lady of the kitchen. Today, La Scaletta has a new soul, found in the figures of Cristian Briggi and his wife Debora Moretti, the owners and beating hearts of this location, as well as lovers of traditional and authentic Mediterranean cuisine, who offer the flavors and scents of a tricolor culinary passion, enriched by a fresh and whimsical twist.

Go past the steps of the famous ladder that historically gives the place its name: a large vintage counter will guide you towards the main room in shades of beige and white, where soft seats, cushions and elegant table sets welcome patrons in a timeless atmosphere. Between arches, boiserie and warm light is the perfect setting for a romantic dinner or special occasion with friends and loved ones. You’ll be delighted by a seasonal menu that recalls the regional recipes of the Bel Paese, with a variety of appetizers and first and second courses that range from sea to land, in a kaleidoscopic and captivating menu for all palates.

A menu that will also spoil those who are looking for good food during their lunch break: from Monday to Friday, in fact, their lunch menu will whet your appetite, for a delicious meal. And when the warm season peeks through the buildings of the Milanese skyline, a secret candlelit garden, between lanterns and cushions, will welcome you in a luxuriant outdoor area with a country chic atmosphere. La Scaletta is an invitation to (re) discover a love for tradition, in a balanced mix of flavors, smells and colors typical of a gourmet experience, to be savored calmly. It makes for an oasis of peace and taste, immersed in the urban frenzy.

We can't. That's why every week we share the best experiences milan has to offer.
