Motelombroso

Giving an exact and precise classification of places, people, emotions or feelings is often difficult. Motelombroso, a new space dedicated to leisure, wine and cuisine on the outskirts of Milan, on the Naviglio Pavese, is part of the list of absolutely beautiful and absolutely special things that we have seen in recent times, and which we are unable to concisely define. But we sure can try: Motelombroso is a house, a restaurant, a light and spacious place, strongly desired, dreamed of and already open in the head of its wonderful owners even before in reality.

It’s a pink house, at the bottom of a slope, that presents itself to all its guests from the outside. Surrounded by a luxuriant garden and enriched with simple but at the same time special pieces of furniture, such as the ancient Japanese black bamboo reed bed and a tall and majestic wall mirror that will amaze you with its ability to amplify spaces, the pink house hides the real gem of the place. The hidden star is the restaurant room that Matteo and Alessandra, the hosts, have conceived and wanted to create inside an iron and glass structure. This bright GreenHouse, furnished with Carrara marble tables, in a palette of different pinks, black leather armchairs and velvet sofas, is characterized by a mise en place minimalism, enhanced by lots of greenery.

Everything, from wine glasses, to the ceramics of a young Sardinian craftsman chosen as serving dishes, to the water jugs, up to the careful selection of the fresh ingredients used in the kitchen, aims at excellence and is the result of the most careful research that Alessandra and Matteo have been carrying out for months. Works of art on the walls (including pieces by Jonathan Monk) are waiting to take the place of the fluorescent yellow ribbon crosses that you will notice in several places (even if the same – temporary – crosses, seem to be part of an artistic design studied and wanted).

Why Motelombroso? There is no reason. Or maybe there isn’t just one. We can tell you that you will find a reserved room on the upper floor that can be rented “by the hour” (just like the Motel rooms). It is the wine room, surrounded by bottles chosen by Matteo, among small artisans who produce natural wine. You can decide whether you would like to use it for a meeting, a romantic dinner with a reserved waiter or even for a small private event.

To make it even more bucolic, at the Motelombroso, under the canopy of the garden, a library will soon be open. So whether you want to laze, drink or eat, you will always be welcome here. Take one of the towels kindly made available by the house and lie down on the grass while having a drink and reading your favorite book. We are sure that in doing so, you will be able to fully grasp the true essence of this magical place.

You eat well – if you are hungry try “the nightstand,” or Cavour ragout. It’s a restaurant with a double soul, studied in detail. There’s an amazing and refined natural wine list, which reflects Matteo, but at the same time a hippy soul like Alessandra. Definitely worth a visit in your first free moment, for good relaxation!
