“A spritzer please!” Thank heaven the nice weather is back and Milan can take its jacket off and put its trench coat on. She couldn’t wait to dress up her plazas, her hidden corners, her gardens with people on a stroll, seats, tables and cocktails galore! Let’s get this party started! Piazza Duomo, queen of the (regional) capital, makes a glorious comeback surrounded by the countless venues that through the years have courted her and slowly but surely have won her over. Ever since September 2012 if you happen to be in the area after 6pm, this is the place to be: Terrazza Aperol!
The designer, Antonio Piciulo, captured the very epitome of the perfect cocktail in form, structure and furnishings as shades of orange flow through the pub only to emerge onto the most amazing terrace you will ever see! The duomo has never felt so close… or so clickable (it’s practically begging for a selfie)!
Turning this beautiful, majestic spot into the ideal place for an aperitif is a given if with the cocktails you serve delicious appetizers, as well. The hostess at Terrazza Aperol busily refills the tables handing out cones of crispy chips. With your drink you get a plate of mini sandwiches, bruschettas, olives, savory muffins and anything else you can think of. Is the second round brought on by gluttony or thirst? It’s a toss up.
Anyway, if you’ve got a romantic evening in mind, give them a buzz first so you get the best spot. You don’t want to miss out on a chance at scoring these points (without damaging to your wallet, by the way)! At the first hint of spring they have people coming out of the wood works! Just keep that in mind. If you want to take it up a notch, save some space for dinner at Giacomo (Arengario). Chapeau!
