Around the world in 80 minutes. All right, maybe it took a little over 80 minutes … but the concept is clear. In the dish, or better, in the dishes that Wicky presents you can savor aromas and taste sensations that come from all parts of the world. Sushi with angus meat, chopped mushrooms and truffle oil; or with the sweet red prawns of Mazara del Vallo that smell of Sicily with tomato sauce and then again spices, flavors, emotions that represent him, the chef Wicky Priyan, with all his experiences and memories.
Originally from Sri Lanka but Japanese by choice of life, with Indian origins and, distantly, also Spanish ones, in the recent years this eclectic chef has settled here in Milan, and fell in love for our local gastronomic culture. Don’t miss, for instance, the Milanese sushi, with the traditional “yellow” risotto. But when you sit at the counter, talking to the chef himself, you will discover that it’s always him who chooses which dishes to serve, just to make them remain more etched in the minds of the guests.
A versatility that is also reflected in the Corso Italia venue, that outlines even more its spirit. Dark colors and natural woods create a relaxed atmosphere, where the real protagonists stand out: the dishes. Don’t miss the back room in front of the open kitchen. Difficult to describe the atmosphere of this place, that Wicky has personally designed: automatic lights for quality control, soundproof fans for the continuous air circulation, an order that conveys a sense of perfection.
And here we are at our favorite part, the black marble and wood counter with low stools accessible by three steps that gives the idea of being in a temple. “The cook is the master of the soul”, recites the great Japanese characters on the wall, right next to the ancient katana exposed in an illuminated showcase. For the more demanding it’s also possible to book the privè upstairs to enjoy the experience with maximum privacy.
Ex-criminologist by profession, he has now commited a crime: against your diet! In this creative temple of gourmet gastronomy one can not but return to experience the emotion of his creations!
