L’Orto già Salsamentario

A real explosion of taste and color in the name of vegan originality

If you love vegan food, this is an essential stop. On the other hand, if you have always seen the vegan cuisine with a bad eye, L’Orto già Salsamentario is the right place to make you rethink your previous convictions. An explosion of taste and color in the name of originality, these recipes will please everyone.

A nice restaurant that is located inside what was a Salsamentario, or, ironically, a delicatessen. What remains is a marvelous end of the nineteenth century banner and a marble devanture that hints to the past. The rest of the interior is done in a modern taste, between the light tones of the walls and the wood of the tables, giving a pleasant sensation from the entrance.

It is understood immediately: here we come to feel good. The credit goes mainly to Eduardo Ferrante, the energetic and enthusiastic chef who, together with his brigade, often peeks out from the kitchen in sight, giving off energy and vibrancy. Here at the Garden it’s also because you breathe the air of home and the impression is always that of being among friends.

But it’s time to let the dishes speak, the protangonists of this vegan restaurant in constant motion. Eduardo is a real researcher who experiments, processes and composes dosing at the right point the ingredients in a succession of tradition and modernity that manages to surprise even the most experienced palates of vegan cuisine. An original proposal that follows the rhythm of the seasons, articulated in a leaner and more hand-made menu for a healthy and light lunch, and a more structured menu for an elegant dinner.

Here then we find the voulevant of soft wheat stuffed with aubergine babaganousch with mint flavored tahin, original and fun, ideal to open the way to all other delicacies: from potato gnocchi with pesto and almond grains to the oven skewer of datterini and marinated tempeh served with barbecue sauce, soft quinoa biscuits, hummus and sarset salad.

In the end, do not miss one of the fantastic desserts, full of taste and imagination, which you can also find at the Orto Cafè, the patisserie and cafeteria of the restaurant.

We can't. That's why every week we share the best experiences turin has to offer.
