4cento

One of the most striking location in the city, on the guesthouse ruins of an old convent from the 1400s, in the South Milan area

I place the 4cento among the “odi et amo” (love it or hate it) hangouts of my life. A place I began hanging out in about fifteen years ago for romantic dinners “to remember”. The location, at the time especially – but still so today – was one of the most striking in Milan. In fact it rose up out of the guesthouse ruins of an old convent from the 1400s, in the periphery of South Milan.

Very evocative and particular furnishings, with vintage Chesterfield armchairs, designer lamps and a splendid garden decorated with cushions, low tables and stools, all make it feel almost mystical. Over the years it was elected the place to go dancing with friends whenever possible: exclusive parties with ultra rigid selection at the entrance, alternative music, dj set and live unplugged… a slightly underground environment! But also birthday parties with my friends, aperitifs, you name it!

Instead today – that I am a mom – and I am looking for places that propose a variety of initiatives with little ones in mind, I discovered that since 2008 the 4cento proposes to Milanese families, searching for a different way to spend Sunday, the Family Brunch: while parents savor the delicacies of the chef, kids are busy with creative activities of all kinds and cared for by specialists in the “Bruno Munari” method (Munari was “one of the main protagonists of art, design and graphics of the 20th century”, with a rich research on the theme of movement, light and development of creativity and imagination in infancy through play).

Today the “Menu 3.0” has been named and thought by the owner Max de Luca, together with the chef Alessandro Cogliati: is divided into 4 proposals with meat, fish, green and a section dedicated to sugar (sweets).
