Milan is the undisputed fashion city, even for food. And, clearly, pizza has also been trendy. So we happily welcome the gourmet pizzas that are spreading more and more in town. Raising pizza from a modest dish to a delicacy appreciated by the foodies. Therefore among all my favourite pizzerias, no place can beat Le Specialità: a point of reference in this filed since 1977.
The environment is simple and cosy, you breathe tradition and certainty. The appearance is rustic, ’80 style, with a lot of wood and a big crucifix hung on the wall. But most of all, the pizza is really special. The secret of success is the flawless quality of the raw ingredients. The dough is thin, crunchy and light. The mozzarella is always buffalo mozzarella, the cured meats are cut when required (do not miss the Langhirano pizza!), vegetables and fish are super fresh. Moreover, all the pizzas are available also in the gluten free version. I actually never tasted it, but according to a friend who suffers from celiac disease, this is the best gluten free pizza and its taste is the same of the standard version.
I love so much the pizza at Le Specialità, that when I am here I cannot chose anything else from the menu, even though there also starters, pastas and main dishes with both meat and seafood. The service is perfect: fast, friendly and careful. As soon as you seat at your table, while waiting for your pizza (even though you will not have to wait for a long time, as they will serve you in record time!) you will be offered some special olives: huge, soft and warm… a real delight!
As further proof of the fact that the Milanese people are tireless worker, Le Specialità is open every day of the year, including Sunday and all August. Another detail that I really appreciate is the possibility of leaving the car, for free, in a garage close to the restaurant. I must admit the bill will be a little higher than the average, but I promise it is worth it, as the quality and the taste are much better.
