Modes Milan
A store that doubles as a work of art in central Milan, redefining how to experience fashion

Milan, Paris, Sankt Moritz, Gstaad, Forte dei Marmi, Portofino, Porto Cervo, Cagliari, Favignana… no, this is not a list of luxury holiday destinations, but a handful of the spots chosen by Modes and its founder Aldo Carpinteri to share his personal, highly successful vision of fashion, style and art. The striking 1000 sq m space in Milan, also dubbed Modes 2.0 to mark a fresh chapter from its previous iteration, was redesigned by Berlin studio Gonzalez Haase AAS for a truly show-stopping look that commands Piazza Risorgimento.

At the core of this multi-brand concept store lies the venue itself. Located in an elegant, central corner of Milan, it creates seamless continuity with the square outside through its 24 display windows, which frame an ever-changing spectacle of fashion, design and creativity. Preserving this continuous flow guided the architecture: the interior flooring retains the same stone used outside across Piazza Risorgimento, while leaving much of the original building intact.

The design also introduces a highly creative layout: deliberately unfinished in appearance, the modular structure easily adapts to the various events hosted within its walls. Modes is not merely a charismatic retail space, but a gathering spot designed for genuine dialogue with its guests, showcasing an extensive selection of women’s and men’s ready-to-wear and accessories, complemented by homeware and interior accents to lend character to any room.

As a multifaceted destination, it also hosts temporary installations, photography exhibitions and events, particularly during Milan’s busiest highlights such as fashion and design weeks. The desire for free personal expression extends well beyond clothing, even if fashion remains the beating heart of Modes. There are over 100 brands across luxury, niche and avant-garde labels: Balenciaga, The Attico, Marni, Jacquemus, Mugler, Dries Van Noten and Vivienne Westwood, to name just a few. Across clothing, bags, footwear, accessories and sunglasses, the group’s label-free ethos (aside from price tags) is always clearly felt.

MiniModes
Alongside its vast wardrobe for men and women, the brand has not overlooked younger generations: Minimodes, located in Brera along Via Fiori Chiari, presents a vibrant selection of curated clothing and accessories for children and teenagers across a 190 sq m space. Art once again takes centre stage: the boutique draws inspiration from Mondrian‘s iconic paintings, using a metal framework that brings colour and geometry to the space.
