Sartoria Vanni

Via dei Fossi, 51/r

Sartoria Vanni, Florence

CallDirections

A historic name in Florence: Sartoria Vanni opened in 1818 as a small workshop in the historic centre. It soon became a benchmark for quality and attention to detail, first across Tuscany and later with an international clientele. Times change, and Vanni adapted by launching an innovative online service in 2014, bringing authentic Italian tailoring to clients worldwide. A modern twist on made-in-Italy bespoke: jackets, suits, shirts, and pocket squares handcrafted by skilled artisans.

Liverano & Liverano

Via dei Fossi, 43/r

Liverano & Liverano, Florence

CallDirections

One of Florence’s best-known and most internationally acclaimed tailoring houses; the Liverano brothers started out in tailoring from a very young age: in the late ’40s Luigi arrived in Florence to work for Commessanti – at the time one of the city’s most prestigious tailors – and, two years later, was joined by his brother Antonio, who was just eleven years old. From that moment came the ambition to open an atelier in their own name, which in 1960 became Liverano&Liverano, moving from Via Panzani to Santa Maria Novella and then to Via dei Fossi, where it remains today.

Essère Atelier

Via Dei Pandolfini 7/r

Essère Atelier, Florence

CallDirections

A womenswear haven on Via de’ Pandolfini. The owner, Ilaria, spent years working for major fashion brands before opening her own studio to showcase her distinctive creative vision. Her signature lies in her choice of materials: high-grade fabrics, rare silks, and vintage remnants turned into imaginative pieces. Highlights include skirts made from vintage silk scarves, houndstooth waistcoats lined with striped cotton or polka-dot silk, culottes paired with Chanel-inspired jackets, and kimonos, her true hallmark. Ilaria has reimagined the kimono for relaxed wear with jeans or white trousers, offered both in a long, flowing cut and with a belted waist.

Undici Florence

Viale dei Mille, 135/137

Undici Florence

Directions

Another dedicated womenswear atelier, founded by Gioia and Mariangela, two young colleagues and friends. Their by-appointment studio on Viale de’ Mille pairs understated cuts with natural fabrics: linen, cotton, hemp, and pure silk. A-line skirts, tailored tops, and fluid trousers feature alongside menswear-inspired shirts and tie-front crop tops. While minimalist, their style is unmistakable. The pair have also embraced online platforms like Depop, consistently ranking among the top handmade brands for younger shoppers.

Madame Flo

Via Mario Pratesi, 24

Madame FLO, Florence

CallDirections

A workshop unlike any other in Florence and across Italy, Madame Flo brings together international specialists to craft period garments and stage costumes. Madame Flo produces meticulous artisan reproductions of medieval attire, hats, theatrical costumes, and bespoke clothing tailored to individual requests. It is also a premier address for bespoke style consultations and textile restorations.
