Bice Milano
Tuscan flavours, Milanese tradition and the iconic pappardelle al telefono served for over fifty years
Milan, the city of fashion and design, is equally renowned for its dining scene. Located in the quadrilatero della moda, one of the city’s smartest quarters, Bice Milano has been a fixture of local dining since 1926, officially recognised as a Bottega Storica. Its story began when Beatrice Mungai (known as Bice) moved to Milan, bringing her Tuscan roots with her. Together with her family, she opened an osteria on via San Pietro all’Orto to introduce northern diners to traditional Tuscan cooking. Growing rapidly in popularity, the restaurant moved in 1939 to via Borgospesso, where it still welcomes guests today (alongside outposts overseas).

This is where the restaurant became a landmark for glamorous Milan, drawing figures from show business, football and fashion throughout the second half of the 1900s and beyond. Bice Milano is an authentic culinary gem that has carried forward Italian gastronomic tradition (distinctly Tuscan) with passion and skill for almost a century.
The dining room has an understated elegance, revealed in its furnishings: paintings, prints and fine mirrors stand out against the red tartan carpet that serves as the restaurant’s signature touch.

The menu celebrates authentic Italian flavours: among the handmade pastas, the perennial favourite remains ‘Le pappardelle al telefono‘. Seasonal risottos also feature prominently, not least the signature ‘Risotto alla Bice’, made with saffron Carnaroli rice creamed with Parmigiano Reggiano. For dessert, the homemade tiramisù is unmissable.

The wine list is just as carefully curated, staying true to the restaurant’s focus on tradition and simplicity. The sommelier is on hand to recommend pairings for every dish, catering effortlessly to discerning palates.
With its long heritage, Bice charms guests through its welcoming elegance, continuing to pass down Italian culinary traditions. It remains a memorable stop for anyone keen to discover a slice of Italian history and the family behind it.
