The official definition of Bulk is “mixology food & bar”. For me, it is a true oasis of peace and quite in the heart of Chinatown. A cozy and welcoming place where it is possible to enjoy signature cocktails accompanied by delicious and well-tended dishes at all hours. It is located inside the Hotel Viu, 5-star luxury in Via Fioravanti, but is independent of the hotel and has its own distinct identity. Soul and demiurge of the Bulk is Giancarlo Morelli, the histrionic star chef of Pomireau di Seregno, who wanted to call his bar-bistro as a tribute to the social center that once stood in this area, to give the idea of place open, accessible, where everyone can enter.
The atmosphere is elegant but informal, with soft lighting and sober and essential design furnishings. It seems designed specifically to put guests at ease and invite them to total relaxation. You can sit at tables or in larger and more convivial tables, at the bar counter or on stools overlooking the wonderful open kitchen. The Bulk is the ideal place for a business lunch as well as for an aperitif with friends, for a drink for two or for a family brunch, always pampered by a smiling, polite and competent staff.
The drink list offers original and fun proposals, from Gian Tonic, the now classic revisiting of the Morelli gin tonic, to the Negroni del Professore, smoked at the time, up to A Mexicano in Milan, with tequila, jalapeno jam and polenta crust . All prepared artfully and with great inspiration by expert mixologists.
On the side of the room opposite the counter, instead, there is the open kitchen. Big, beautiful, lively but very tidy. Seeing the brigade working with professionalism and passion is a pleasure for the eyes. Taste the dishes is for the palate. The Bulk menu includes proposals for every moment of the day. From sandwiches, salads and classics from hotel bars to saucers to accompany aperitifs, up to an a la carte menu with dishes inspired by Italian tradition but reinterpreted according to the unmistakable style of chef. For Sunday brunch, an ad hoc menu: pancakes, waffles, burgers and omlette served with smoothies or centrifuges.
