Born in November 2015, Latteria della Darsena, in Piazza Cantore 1, is a real treat that we advise you to insert directly into your “restaurants to try” note. Not only because it offers typical dishes from the tradition of Puglia, but also and especially, for the artisanal cheeses ready to delight cheese lovers.
The Latteria is open from morning to evening, also offering aperitifs: this gastronomic lab will take you on a trip to the Apulian landscapes, with some nice “deviations”. Long story short, it’s the place where to bring that friend who always is always nostalgic about the Salento flavors accessible only on vacation!
The environment, dominated by dove-grey and blue tones, is cozy, warm and modern at the same time, just as the dishes of the menu, a perfect blend of innovation and tradition.
Burrata, Fior di latte, mozzarella, Sicilian pecorino, stracciatella, ricotta, scamorza, caciocavallo… These are the specialties that Mario, the dairyman, prepares daily according to the ancient tradition of dairy art. You can buy them or try them directly on the spot, protagonists of the tasting menu (highly recommended!) or as a part of various dishes by chef Gigi Rana.
Menu specialties change seasonally, but first courses, where flavors of the land and love for good food are reflected, are still the centerpiece of the place: just to tease you, they range from the classic orecchiette (a type of pasta) with turnip greens to the variation with stracciatella and potato chips, passing over the cavatelli (a type of pasta) with tomato sauce and salty ricotta, absolutely amazing! Among other delicious products of the Apulian tradition, the must tries are Panzerotti, Barese focaccia, Barley Frisella, “Brasciola” and the Lecce Pasticciotto.
Since September 2016 Latteria della Darsena is also open in Via Stoppani 12 (the Città Studi area) with its second location and the possibility to take away for those who, even on the go, don’t want to give up the taste.
An authentic corner of Puglia in the heart of Milan!
