Try to imagine: a kind, courageous and modern Cinderella, with that simple and sophisticated allure that can make her more unique than rare and at the same time combative and bubbly, all Italian, in fact, Milanese Doc, pourquoi pas! Well, she does exists and her name is Olivia Ghezzi Perego, the brides’ friends most appreciated young designer of ceremony gowns but not only that, considering that these cocktail dresses can be worn on any occasion, as they are cool and contemporary. A true icon of style and elegant versatility, she conquered the heart of the big public thanks to her resident participation in “Detto Fatto”, the tv program hosted by Caterina Balivo which aires on channel RaiDue, in which Olivia gives look lessons to the guests of the moment, through fun “tutorials”.
The “Maison Olivia” atelier was born in Milan in 2008 within the event space “Kitchen Victim” in Porta Romana, with the collaboration of Olivia’s event manager girlfriends Veronica and Martina Rocca (cousins!), based on the idea of ”dressing” wedding guests with a glamor and modern touch, making them not only more elegant, as usually required by the etiquette but also trendy, matching the look with jackets. So stylish and versatile to become the perfect outfits for a drink on Friday, or the vernissage of the moment, or a romantic evening with Prince Charming…
The mix&match of favorite fabrics (almost never pattern!), especially jacquard, with bright shades and feminine silhouettes, are the distinguishing elements of Maison Olivia’s bon ton style. But the thing that Olvia Ghezzi Perego’s customers like the most, even judging by the pictures they send her via social media, is being able to combine a narrow waist wide skirt with a casual top or a cotton t-shirt, or, viceversa, a discrete, linear coat with casual every day jeans! “The research always starts from the fabric,” explains the designer, habitué of the Textile Fair in Paris and White in Milan, “I feel with touch and I imagine, I create in my mind, then the design takes shape.” Let’s remember that Olivia Ghezzi Perego not only has a study background in “Fashion Design”, but she also has a great experience acquired during the years of training at the Atelier owned by her family.
In a few years the brand has grown exponentially, going from “made to measure”, which remains a trademark of Maison Olivia’s guidelines, to the distribution in over 25 stores in Italy and also in the UK, where the cocktail dress style is certainly very appreciated. Part of the credit for this success also comes from the visibility given by “product placement” in movies, which has brought Maison Olivia’s creations on the big screen: Il Capitale Umano by Virzì e Fuga di Cervelli, starring Olga Kent. Only on demand, at least for the moment, the realisation of wedding dresses, which is starting to cover a wider niche of young people from Milan, not only concerning church ceremonies but also for civil weddings.
