Post offices usually generate mixed feelings. We hate queues and packages that never arrive while, at the same time, we can’t wait to receive the delivery of our latest online purchase, to send and receive postcards from distant countries and to read good news from friends and relatives spread throughout the world. Posta Bistrot, in Sant’Ambrogio district, is inspired by these last romantic and nostalgic sensations.

In a daily life made of digital emotions received by email, photos on WhatsApp and phone calls, seeing an envelope in the mailbox is always a surprise (or a nightmare in case of fines and bills!). While the ritual of postcards for every holiday is disappearing, Posta Bistrot takes us back in time, making us rediscover the beauty of old post offices.

A bistrot with green bottle walls in which typical furnishings of a post office are mixed with objects from the past, creating a unique retrò atmosphere. Iron or wood letterboxes and office interiors are the setting for old radios, globes, an old phone with rotary dial, a gramophone and many typewriters used, perhaps, to write long letters in the past.

Old post counters let us glimpse a small and more intimate room with wallpapers and the kitchen with its cooks busy preparing various dishes.

When you go to the post office you make the most diverse encounters: old ladies waiting for retirement, students, families, employees… Likewise at Posta, open since the breakfast time, you can meet different people approaching the bistrot tables during the breaks of the day.
