Some corners of Milan hold incredible tales, often forgotten. Addresses with inexhaustible charm, unchanged over the centuries. These are the places we are always happy to to talk about. Via Laghetto 2 is one of these addresses, where today the event space “Tencitt” is located, while back in 900 A.D. there was the a coal cellar for the factory of the Duomo
In the late 14th century, in this precise location, an artificial lake was built to facilitate the transport of heavy marbles necessary for the construction of the Duomo. About 300 years later, during the days of the “Great Plague” told by the Manzoni novel “The Betrothed”, a coalman or “tencitt” in Milanese dialect, named Bernardo Catoni, escaped from the disease and commissioned a votive fresco of the Virgin Mary, which you can still admire today.
So, walking along Via Laghetto towards the Duomo, passing by the dehors of Cantina Piemontese, you may not notice on your left a small wooden door facing the street. Yet that door hides a unique treasure of the city.
A proper location for events, one of the most suggestive spaces you may pick for every special occasion: whether it’s a birthday, a Christmas dinner or a company event. The Tencitt space adapts to every situation with the unique ability of those who have lot of experience. Completely renovated, it leaves you breathless with its barrel vault and the ancient exposed bricks.
But what’s making Spazio Tencitt a true one-of-a-kind place is the interior design. Velvet armchairs, inlaid tables, candelabra, antique lamps, old books and a 13 meters long central table, ready to seat up to 40 people at once. What about the atmosphere then? Soffused lights and infinite details make Tencitt a place so fascinating you’ll want to hang out here for hours.
The cuisine, the same of Cantina Piemontese, is authentic and genuine thanks to a menu of traditional recipes. It’s also possible to personalise the menu in order to meet everyone’s tastes. Thus, with a wine cellar just around the corner, the selection ranges from Piedmont to the whole Italian territory with some diversions beyond the Alps with a preferred route for small producers with natural, organic and biodynamic wines. Not surprising, wine tasting evenings are periodically held for companies, individuals or to the general public. In short, the wine glass will always be full at Tencitt.
Rely on the skilful advices of the staff to organize your special event. In fact, the space is equipped with a powerful audio system, video projector and it’s therefore possible to prepare even a dj set. While being in the most beautiful tavern you have ever seen, your event will embue all the charm this timeless place transmits. Can you imagine a better location for a Christmas dinner?
