An exclusive club. A secret tasting like whiskey and the ‘20s in US. This is the first impression you have of the Apollo Club Milano just crossed the threshold. You are literally hypnotized by the dark wood counter, the leather sofas, the crystal chandeliers and the piano. The environment is dark but not heavy: it is simply hidden, protected. It seems almost strange that a secret word is not required to enter. It’s difficult not to imagine being in New York prohibition era. Instead we are in via Borsi, an uncrowded street between the Navigli and the Tortona area.
The perfect location for a club. A place to stay for hours. And at Apollo it is certainly not difficult to find a way to pass the time. The place is known above all for its cocktails, prepared with highly selected spirits and served with small tastings at aperitif time. Even the evening menu has a decidedly refined mark with great attention to the quality and seasonality of raw materials. I loved the risotto of green asparagus with lemon and shrimp, but the cuisine is also known for meat dishes like rabbit.
The offer on the list is wide, ranging from appetizers and tapas to reinterpretations of traditional desserts like “the idea of tiramisu”. Very interesting the tasting that allows you to try all the dishes of the daily menu. The Sunday brunch formula is also highly recommended: after a welcome with a centrifuge and excellent assorted croissants you can choose two à la carte courses, both sweet and savory.
The Apollo is so unique thanks to its sophistication, which is part of the interior design and that is absolutely confirmed by the service: the reception is entrusted to a maître who introduces the gastronomic proposals to then leave space for elegant waiters. The rock touch is reserved for weekend evenings. The Apollo is, in fact, also a guest of events such as Rollover on Fridays and live music concerts on Saturdays. In addition to turning into a concert hall, the club also offers a play room: in the space adjacent to the restaurant there is a ping pong table and a retro pinball machine.
The vintage and chic mood that you breathe makes the Apollo Club Milano ideal for special evenings, for a New York style brunch, but also for an original first romantic date.
