One of the essential principles of being Flawless is, in our modest opinion, to be coherent. An impeccable place always is, there’s no such thing as a bad night, a distracted waiter or a dish that just didn’t come out right. Just the way an impeccable person always is. It is the care and maniacal attention to details that make the difference. That is why we personally visit every place we decide to review while remaining anonymous, so as not to alter the final result, the experience. That is the only way we can evaluate whether, yes, a place really stands up to hype that precedes it. I’m telling you this because I had heard a lot of talk about the Concept Store Avery Perfume Gallery dedicated to the artistic perfumery, in Corso Como 2, which has a very particular Spa inside.
I was attracted by a detail that more than likely made the difference: the “One to One“ service. Just one client. Just one suite – on the level below the ground floor – and just one beautician. How tempting is that? I call a week ahead of time, because I want to be sure I grab that precious time slot, obviously the most requested between 7 and 8 p.m., no matter what. Ten minutes. The time it takes to make the phone call, which I wanted to verify once I had hung up. The first contact merits a ten. Regardless of the rush, the person responsible was able to guide me through the extremely well planned list of treatments making me get the urge to splurge my entire paycheck and grant myself an entire day of relaxation. Let’s not exaggerate, we’re only half way through the month. I manage to keep my feet on the floor.
She explains that the beautician works by appointment only and asks me to please respect the hour as after that the shop closes. I’m horrible and regardless of the promises I underestimate to distances and find myself watching the clock tick away the minutes as I tap my fingertips on the steering wheel. There’s traffic, what a lame excuse. I get there late. Twenty minutes. I’m a little embarrassed but I have to go in and excuse myself, accepting the fact that I might have lost my coveted slot. Then I enter and they make me feel totally at ease eliminating the anxiety I had just a minute ago. No stuffy looks, no comments. Relaxation begins.
