Let’s admit it – when the weather turns nice, we always want to buy new things! So, after work, making the most of the longer days and the fact that it is still light outside, we head toward one of the major shopping streets. We get out at the Porta Venezia stop, but before diving into the fray of Corso Buenos Aires, we pop by Piazza Oberdan where we discover Leopoldo Boutique, a small shop that is a true gem.
As we enter, we are welcomed immediately by a warm, inviting atmosphere that is a bit retro. It features wallpaper, wood all around and small little niches that have knowingly recreated 1960s style: a little table with a small lamp, floral decorations, a wooden wardrobe with the doors open and a few pieces hanging inside. It’s easy to imagine a woman in her bedroom as she stands before it deciding what to wear.
Clothes are strategically positioned on hangers in three areas of the shop based on color, with different pairings and accessories that make one want to rush right over. By touching the fabrics and seeing how they feel, we are better able to imagine how they would look on us.
Leopoldo isn’t just the name of the boutique. It is also the name of the owner: a man of about 50 who is, obviously, impeccably dressed. He guides us around the boutique in his kind and discreet manner. After having given us some truly personalized tips about our style, he takes us into one of the dressing rooms, and this is where we find the true hidden delight of this boutique. It is like an upper class Milanese parlor that you will never want to leave.
A velvet curtain separates this room from the rest of the shop. There are comfortable armchairs and a chaise longue that make the space, immediately creating that retro atmosphere of days gone by. It’s like a deja vu of being in the home of a wealthy aunt who has you try on dresses she keeps hidden as family heirlooms in the wardrobe – pieces that never go out of style with fabrics that are so perfect that they seem as if they were made yesterday when, in reality, many years have gone by. Pieces you can’t wait to wear and that, with a few modern accessories, will be the envy of all of your closest friends! This is exactly the experience one has when entering this dressing room.
A good salesperson doesn’t only sell a product but sells an entire experience surrounding it, and this is the case here. It will be impossible to leave without buying something! In the boutique you can find the latest trends in terms of colors, chic floral patterns and rouges galore.
