Everyone calls it “TipA” (an informal Italian world for “girlfriend”, TN). A name that would seem to recall a song by J-Ax and Articolo 31 of a few years ago… instead it’s the abbreviation of Tipografia Alimentare, a bistro on the Naviglio della Martesana which is right behind the Zelig cabaret. It would seem one of those hipster clubs of Isola, instead it is located in the heart of Gorla. A few meters away from the metro station, the bistrot overlooks the Naviglio at the Ponte Vecchio with seven windows overlooking the beautiful green pedestrian area that runs along its banks.
The Tipografia Alimentare is not the classic aperitif or after dinner bar, but a real food hub where you can discover and taste refined, seasonal, natural products. The choice of the name comes precisely from the desire to “tell” food, producing it in an analogous manner to the typography, the artisanal “factory” of the written word. The furnishing is also reminiscent of the typographic world, with vintage pieces and interiors that would delight any photographer: typographic boxes full of lead characters, working typewriters, tables with a marble counter. You will also find a selection of periodicals, including foreign ones, and gastronomy books. The quiet location makes it a suitable place for meetings with friends, but also with colleagues.
The Tipografia team is made up of three people of different ages and experiences, each with their own history: Carla De Girolamo, first and foremost, founder and former journalist of Panorama who has made the decision to follow her vocation of oil producer and entrepreneur; Martina Laura Miccione, graduated in Gastronomic Sciences and food scouter who runs farm to farm looking for quality microproducers, takes care of the wine list and oversees the service; and Mattia Angius, also a graduate in Gastronomic Sciences, and chef.
The food proposal of the typography ranges from breakfast to after dinner. Nothing is left to chance. At breakfast, the coffee is prepared and filtered with different methods of different extraction. At lunchtime you will find first courses, salads and seasonal soups, all prepared with local ingredients. The products that you will taste during the aperitif, have been selected according to criteria such as the type of processing and the protection of nature and animals.
In addition to food, the vocation to storytelling as a medium of conviviality is expressed through meetings, public conferences, tasting evenings, book presentations, movie projections and exhibitions. In short, the Tipografia Alimentare is an ideal place for exchange and not just a bistro, a place where you can meet, discuss and above all where you can enjoy the best of the local products that the city has to offer.
