Sheraton Diana Majestic’s 110th birthday

Exclusive atmospheres in the style of the early twentieth century for an exceptional birthday

The milanese belle epoque was the leitmotif of the celebrations for Sheraton Diana Majestic‘s 110 candles. The festivities actually started in the summer months with Aperitivo900: a journey back in history between flavors and atmospheres of the last century, created in collaboration with Samanta Cornaviera of Massaie Moderne – a blog of culinary archeology.

On the 30th of October, the Milanese hotel with timeless charm has represented the ideal setting for an evening inspired by the early 20th century and the first banquet held for the inauguration of the Diana. The perfect evening to conclude the celebrations of this important anniversary. A jump back to the origins of the historic Milanese hotel. The Kursaal Diana was, in fact, opened in 1908 to equip Porta Venezia with an elegant multi-purpose center devoted to entertainment.

The final evening, a multi-sensory dive back in time, started with a welcome cocktail starring the Diana Bronx, the themed drink created ad hoc by the mixologist Daniele Cicolari to celebrate the Bronx, the cocktail of the early ‘900 made with gin, dry vermouth, orange juice and red vermouth.

Then continue with a real antique banquet served at the Gazebo Lounge in the garden where guests have tasted the five-course menu made by the new Executive Chef of the hotel: Luca Nania. The recipes proposed, a re-interpretation of the dishes served on the Diana’s inauguration back in 1908, helped to make the atmosphere of the event a real journey through time: trout with Hollandaise sauce, capon ribs, ravioli rice and Milanese-style broth, Italian-style beef fillet with venison rice chips and, finally, Neapolitan sorbet and pastry.

To make the evening unforgettable two exceptional partners: Mavive, the company that brought back to life Aqua Nunzia – the perfume designed by Gabriele d’Annunzio – called for the evening to inebriate the rooms and Ars Antiqua, the antique boutique that took care of the setting between liberty statues, paintings and early ‘900 art works. All with a swing music background that animated the minds throughout the duration of the event.

To complete this journey into the past, Diana provided its guests with a styling service by Elisabetta Invernici – fashion and beauty editor and Belle Epoque connoisseur – for the choice of ‘900 looks and outfits or for vintage details.
