If this summer you have to stay in the city for work obligations, why not take advantage of the calm of August to take a ride around the surroundings of Milan? We have selected for you the most interesting proposals in dream locations.

Lake of Como

The Sere FAI d’estate are for you if you are passionate about places rich in history and art such as villas, castles or monasteries. Beside, visiting them from dusk onwards can only add a bit of charm to the experience itself. Here are the August appointments:

Villa del Balbianello: on Thursday 9th August and on Friday 17th August in this spectacular setting will take place the aperitivi “Sete di cultura e peccati di gola”, with entrance and visit to the villa, a refined finger food aperitif and lounge music in the background.

Villa della Porta Bozzolo: along a tour that winds through the villa, on Saturday, 25th August, you can admire the exhibition “Costumes and fashions in the eighteenth century”, which will illustrate the most curious habits and details of the daily life of a century so far from ours. Also in this case an aperitif will be set up to brighten the evening.

Villa Fogazzaro Roi: on Saturday, 11st August and on Saturday, 18th August a guide will accompany you to take a tour of the villa, while reading short extracts of the famous novel Piccolo Mondo Antico. At the end of the tour you can take advantage of the aperitif organized in the beautiful roof garden, embellished with lanterns for the occasion that will create a warm and intimate atmosphere.

Villa e Collezione Panza: on Thursday, 2nd August and on Thursday, 30th August in the light of the sunset and simultaneously with the permanent exhibition of the Collection and the temporary exhibition “Barry X Ball. The End of History “, the building and its artistic treasures can also be visited. You will be actively involved in a sensory journey designed to stimulate and engage all the senses.

Far from the chaos and the lights of the city, Il Monastero di Torba is the perfect location to admire the starry sky and maybe even to see some shooting stars. The occasion is that on August 10th, the night of San Lorenzo, where at 8:30 pm a dinner is scheduled at the restaurant inside the monastery and then guided tours inside the Torba complex.

If then among your passions there is also music, know that there are two music festivals.  from June 14th to September 15th Festival di Bellagio e Lago di Como, will animate the area with four months of concerts and over 35 events in exceptional settings such as churches, auditoriums, ancient villages, villas and historic buildings and also, news of this year, events en plein air.

Lake Como International Music Festival offers many concerts until September 9th, in high impact settings, such as the beautiful villas and gardens of Lake Como and a wide variety of musical genres. Very often the concerts will be supported by side activities such as guided tours or aperitifs, to appreciate even more the beauty of the proposed places

Isole Borromee

If you haven’t visited Stresa and the Isole Borromee yet, why not take advantage of the Stresa Festival? This musical event alternates internationally renowned artists with new talent, seeing twenty-seven concerts follow each other between July 14th and September 9th. Here too a wide variety of genres will leave no one dissatisfied. Take a trip to the magnificent Borromeo Islands, between the almost untouched nature of the Isola Madre, the geometric garden of Isola Bella and the Doll and Toy Museum, the largest in Europe, located inside the medieval Rocca Angera.
