In the vibrant Tortona area, more precisely in Via Stendhal, The Gallery Bar, opened in 2016 as Beer Gallery, quickly established itself thanks to its selection of craft beers. But under a new management, since 2022, it has expanded its offer to include a selection of wines, cocktails and spirits, accompanied by a fine food selection. And the excellence of the raw ingredients is precisely the fil rouge that binds the entire proposal of The Gallery Bar, starting with what has remained somewhat of a speciality of the bar, namely its selection of craft beers.

Specifically, there are six beers in the taproom, which rotate weekly: all of them are research beers, from emblazoned breweries, but some are also home-brewed, with a few delicacies, such as aromatic or spicy beers and even alcohol-free or gluten-free beers. But here you can also find wines from small producers, again with a focus on non-obvious labels and a few natural wines. Then spirits and bitters, always the result of careful research and chosen with the same criterion of highest quality, and of course all the classic cocktails, but also some with hops!

The food deserves a separate chapter, also because Marco, one of the two partners, has a past as a chef in starred restaurants and coordinates the gastronomic offerings at The Gallery Bar. You can start the evening here with an aperitif, which includes appetisers and a small selection of artisanal products, but if you wish you can reinforce this by ordering à la carte, or stay for something more substantial, like an American bar-style dinner. The menu is truly extensive and delicious: a journey through contemporary and international flavours, with a predilection for Italian, American and Asian, and dishes designed to perfectly accompany the outstanding selection of drinks. I dare you not to salivate over the succulent burgers, the sandwiches, the handmade focaccia stuffed with cold meats, cheeses, vegetables or the gourmet version (all the bread comes from an artisanal micro-bakery), the beef meatballs, which also come in various versions, depending on availability and the chef’s flair: cacio e pepe, with tomato sauce, parmesan and basil, or Asian style, all delicious in any case. Then there are platters of Parmesan cured meats and super-selected cheeses, tartare, club sandwiches, nachos and gourmet salads. The Gallery Bar opens at 12 noon, so the good news is that you can also taste all these delicacies at lunchtime!

But why is it called The Gallery Bar? First of all, we would like to clarify that ‘bar’ is understood a little American way, in the sense of a drinking establishment with food service attached. Don’t expect a cappuccino and croissant, here. And ‘gallery’ because, in line with the lively artistic and cultural character of the neighbourhood in which it is located (it is just a stone’s throw from Mudec), it turns into an exhibition space when necessary, hosting works by emerging artists. Moreover, the environment, all played out in dark tones and with attention to the smallest details, reveals itself to be an ideal canvas of contemporary, elegant and refined style.

To remain in the artistic/cultural mood, evenings at The Gallery Bar are often enlivened by live music, or deejay sets with vinyls. This combination of drinks, art and gastronomy makes every stop at The Gallery Bar a unique experience, ideal for an informal lunch break, an aperitif with quality products, a pleasant dinner or a relaxing evening. Ah, it is rumoured that among the clientele there is a predominance of women…We told you so, then… it’s up to you
