The best places to hunt and taste truffles in Florence and Tuscany
The top spots across Florence and Tuscany to enjoy the finest truffles

Autumn is a special season, even winning over lovers of the warmer months thanks to the vibrant foliage and the seasonal delicacies nature delivers: chestnuts, mushrooms and, above all, truffles! While northern areas such as Alba in Piedmont are renowned, Tuscany holds its own. San Miniato, in the province of Pisa, welcomes thousands of visitors for the Mostra Mercato del Tartufo Bianco in late November. Here are some of the best restaurants and resorts in Florence and nearby towns where you can savour truffle dishes or set out into the woods on private experiences in search of the prized tuber.
IRENE BISTRò

We are right in the centre of Florence, inside Irene at the Hotel Savoy, just opposite the historic carousel in Piazza della Repubblica. Here, Chef Fulvio Pierangelini prepares several truffle dishes on his menu, including the celebrated Tartare di manzo bio allevato da Borgioli, a city must. Hotel Savoy also offers a dedicated experience: at certain times of the year, guests can join a five-day culinary tour featuring a truffle hunt in the countryside led by expert Giulio the Truffle Hunter. Afterwards, guests are invited to Giulio’s own home to enjoy truffle-based dishes paired with local Tuscan wines. And that is not all: you can also add a vintage car city tour, taking in breathtaking views on the drive out to hunt for this prized subterranean delicacy.
Castelfalfi Resort
50050 Montaione FI

We head out to the rolling countryside of San Miniato less than an hour from Florence, at Castelfalfi Resort. Here you can try a distinctive white truffle hunt across the 1,100-hectare estate of this ancient hamlet, home to one of Italy’s finest luxury resorts. At Castelfalfi, join hour-long hunting sessions in the woods alongside an expert local truffle hunter who introduces you to the varieties that grow in Tuscany, though the dogs remain the true stars of the hunt. The white truffle season—the most prized of all—runs from September to December, offering an authentic dive into this ancient Tuscan tradition. Afterwards, taste the standout dishes created by executive chef De Simone.
Atto di Vito Mollica
Via del Corso, 6

Have you ever visited Palazzo Portinari Salviati? It feels like stepping into an Arabian Nights tale, filled with sage velvet sofas, floral displays, statues, frescoes and a grand piano. This sophisticated backdrop hosts restaurant Atto (formerly Chic Nonna), led by Michelin-starred chef Vito Mollica. Atto offers an easy-going lunch formula in the central cloister alongside an elaborate dinner served across five frescoed, art-filled dining rooms, each with distinct details. The truffle theme continues with refined creations like the variazione di funghi porcini, porro e tartufo nero, rich in autumnal aromas, and delicate cannelloni di fagianella arricchiti di scaglie di tartufo bianco.
Osteria le Tre Panche
Vicolo Marzio, 1

Back in central Florence, right by Ponte Vecchio inside Hotel Hermitage, Osteria Tre Panche has earned acclaim for its truffle-led dishes. On the panoramic terrace, founders and chefs Vieri and Andrea serve stuffed tortelli, taglioni and risottos, all generously dressed with truffles. For bolder flavours, the menu also features dishes such as mozzarella in carrozza with pecorino fonduta and truffle, or classic beef tartare with a soft egg and truffle shavings. With one of the finest views in Florence, this is a meal to remember. Le Tre Panche also runs its original historic address on via Pacinotti: an authentic Florentine osteria serving traditional Tuscan food, with dedicated truffle dishes.
Il Caminetto
Via dello Studio, 34/R

Despite the belief that the historic centre is only for tourist traps, il Caminetto sits just metres from the Duomo and delivers genuine, flavourful cooking. At this time of year, the menu features original and slightly unusual truffle dishes to pair with a varied wine list. Try the soffice sformato di zucca con fonduta di pecorino e scaglie di tartufo or the rich carbonara sfarzosa con uovo di quaglia, capocollo di cinta e scaglie di tartufo, a mouth-watering twist on the classic. Outside, you take in Brunelleschi’s Cupolone—never a bad view.
Degusteria Italiana
Via Lambertesca, 7 Rosso

Set between Piazza della Signoria and Ponte Vecchio in an elegant townhouse setting, Degusteria Italiana is an intimate spot with few tables by design. The interior sets the tone: period furniture and glass chandeliers crafted by Florentine artisans alongside frescoes, gilded mirrors and silverware. Italian cuisine takes centre stage here, focused on three key elements: cheeses, game and truffles. Seasonality is strictly observed to bring out the best in local produce. As for the truffles, Degusteria serves an entire menu dedicated to both black and white truffles. From chicken liver terrine to plin stuffed with smoked pork ribs, a classic egg dish, pumpkin and leek risotto, through to lamb and beef fillet, each dish is paired with the right truffle variety. Top-quality ingredients and an extensive cellar make Degusteria a standout in Florence.
Procacci 1885
Via de’ Tornabuoni, 64/R

We round off with a celebrated name in Florentine history, located on chic via Tornabuoni alongside high-end boutiques and art galleries: Procacci 1885, an institution in Tuscany and beyond for over a century, known for its truffle delicacies and Antinori wines. Relaxed yet refined, with restored vintage furnishings and a 1910 Palladiana terrazzo floor, it also features charming outdoor tables on the pedestrian street. Order the famous truffle paninetti paired with foie gras, or the scrambled eggs with fresh truffle. Weekly specials include Black Angus carpaccio… finished with truffle, of course. You can also take the experience home from the Bottega Gourmet, which stocks their signature truffle products in handsome gift boxes.
