I Toscani

A bistro where you can find all of Tuscany's freshness

I Toscani, at the corner of Piazza Frescobaldi, is a delicious bistro. Great for the strategic location, great for the goodness of the dishes, and for the friendliness of the staff. What matters most, however, is knowing that there is a place in the middle of Oltrarno that not only offers a 100% Tuscan menu, but also accompanies it with half a dozen certificates that attest to the origin of organic crops, local provenance  and the suitability for vegans and celiacs.

We say bistro and we should say, more rightly, pizzicheria. I Tuscani, in fact, despite the rich cellar and the perfect proposal for light, but substantial meals for when you are around the city and don’t want to spend too much, is one of the best delicatessens that you could find in Oltrarno, a versatile place that can be a take-away, a gourmet shop and a bistro.

The space certainly does not lack. In addition to the main room, the one with the food counter, to be clear, between hanging hams, shelves loaded with wood-fired bread and hot schiacciata at any time of day, you will find, passing a small corridor, a comfortable room opening on the quiet Via dello Sprone that, with its colorful walls, is perfectly equipped for a lunch or an aperitif.

Alongside the rich section dedicated to cured meats, the food list offers a long list of food preparations that combine Tuscan tradition (tortellini with cinta senese ragout, ribollita, cacciucco, beans all’uccelletto and so on) and that familiar, everyday cuisine that is common to all the good Italian households (risotto, cous cous, many types of pasta and many vegetables cooked in the most varied ways). And then you’ll find a side menu, handwritten, with the recommended house specialties on it.

Everything you order, however, will always be made with the best ingredients, all linked to the company Agrifood Toscana, specialized in short chain production and distribution of organic and typical products of the territory, according to the principles of integrated agriculture that worries about the natural environment and its protection.

I Toscani is an ideal place for many different occasions. No need to enumerate them, you will discover them yourself. When you want a quality aperitif, in a place where you can trust what is on the plate, where you can find a friendly and highly prepared staff and enjoy authentic Tuscan wine in a warm and cheerful atmosphere, you know where to go.

We can't. That's why every week we share the best experiences florence has to offer.
