If you are among those who love Michelin-starred dinners, you can not miss Chef Fabrizio Ferrari. You are at the restaurant Al Porticciolo 84, at number 5 of via Fausto Valsecchi, Lecco, on the hills behind the lake. An old farmhouse from the 1600s has been home to the high quality restaurant of the Ferrari family for over 30 years.
It was 1984 when Bruno and Daria started their restaurant, leaving chef’s place to their son Fabrizio in 2004, who took possession of the kitchen and turned it into an undisputed reference point for lovers of art and fish cuisine. The kitchen has received many awards, in addition to the Michelin star since 2006. In 2012, the restaurant Port 84 is a member of the Association “Jeunes Restaurateurs d’Europe” and in 2016 it was the first Italian restaurant to obtain MSC certification (Marine Stewardship Council ) that guarantees sustainable fishing.
Al Porticciolo 84 is a place that will make you travel. You will find an à la carte menu, but also tasting menus made of five or seven courses, that you can choose to match the wines. The ingredients are so important that they give the name to the dishes themselves. What the chef brings to the table is a complex and eloquent essence. Each dish will be a journey through the five senses with brushstrokes and textures, because in here everything is about art, games and pure love for food.
If you want to accompany your dinner with a drink, you will find a well-stocked champagne, sparkling wines and domestic white wines with some French and German exceptions. And, as a dessert, there are many call-backs to the local tradition. A service impeccable in every detail , from simple and linear to mise-en-place, to the service with sommelier and maitre, ready to guide and direct you.
The main lobby is small and the tables are gathered around the large stone fireplace during the colder season, with a few seats available, so it will be good to book well in advance . But, if you are able to wait for the summer, a nice dehors will welcome you with its coolness and grace, among greenery and candles.
