Belfiore

The hidden gem of men's handmade shoes since 1953

Milan is one of those cities that’s always on the move, in search of novelties, where fashions and shops are always likely to last for too short a time, and the risk of being rapidly replaced by more recent trends is always just around the corner. But in this dizzying whirlwind of change, strongholds hold their own. I’m referring to those boutiques that have become proper landmarks for years, and can live on customer loyalty. Among these pinnacles of continuity, we cannot help but notice the historical shoe-shop, Belfiore. Located in the homonymous street in the Wagner area, Belfiore is one of those boutiques that has maintained its family-run appeal over the years, it is a place to feel at home.

Specialising in men’s footwear since 1953, you can buy high-quality shoes at affordable prices. I remember when, as a child, we trailed after my father to this shop with the entire family, to assist him in choosing what he considered were some of the best shoes in town. Craft made, sewn and finished by hand, you can find all the classic models in this shop, the ones that any respectable Milanese manager would wear for a day at the office. But even other models of footwear such as sports, ideal for leisure time or a weekend out of town keeping pace with elegance.

Whether they are for you (or for your child), head to Via Belfiore, the road that connects corso Vercelli with piazza Wagner, and stop in front of door number 9. Through its small windows, which makes the shop even more of a hidden gem, you can catch a glimpse of the inside, and admire a large part of their creations, in different shapes and colours, and in varying ranges of classic. But do not just stop to look at them! Come in and sit on the comfy leather sofas, which, along with the wooden walls, give the shop a somewhat British look from times gone-by and, definitely effortlessly chic. Take a moment to relax, noting and choosing the footwear you like, and then try them on, and test their comfort.

When you have made your selection of model, colour and size, you don’t want to miss the opportunity to make those shoes really yours and unique. Belfiore, in fact, also provides a service of customisation, giving you the opportunity to imprint your initials, as you prefer on the sole or on the upper of the shoe. I’m sure you will love their creations, so much that you cannot do without! And besides, looks matter, don’t they? To be a proper Milanese you must always have an impeccable style and an innate elegance.

We can't. That's why every week we share the best experiences milan has to offer.
