The Isola neighbourhood – close to one of the squares that has completely redesigned Milan’s skyline – hangs in the balance between the modernity of skyscrapers designed by internationally renowned architects and the quiet life of a neighbourhood characterised by the presence of small craft shops and tenements with communal balconies which, thanks to urban regeneration of the recent years, has been made less remote and more liveable even in the evening. Within a few meters from Piazza Gae Aulenti, you will come across a little bistrot of French resemblance: Les Pommes.
A place with nice and modern décor, and a friendly and cosy atmosphere. Bookshelves on the walls, along with everyday objects and valuable bottles of wine, surround the few tables available. Modern and soft lighting shine on each wooden table and from the open space kitchen you can spy on the dishes preparation, all well finished and of excellent quality.
Les Pommes is a place which can be visited any time of the day, from breakfast to lunch, from snack to dinner, and for a Sunday brunch. You can start the morning with great coffee, served with croissants, pancakes or eggs benedict or relax in a lonely afternoon in front of a cup of tea, savouring the sweet little homemade desserts, which can also be admired from one of the shop windows that overlook via Pastrengo.
The lunchtime menu offers a wide selection of dishes, which are renewed on a daily basis according to the seasons and the availability of fresh ingredients. The bistro menu, available for lunch and dinner, is characterised by the strong French influence – amazing niçoise salad and foie gras medallion – but at the same time great care is given to the enhancement and use of local ingredients (try the “Risotto al midollo”).
Brunch – served every Sunday from 11 to 15 – is in typical American style: scrambled eggs, club sandwich and burgers, accompanied by freshly squeezed orange juice, coffee and the evergreen bread, butter and jam, perfect to regain strength during hangover days!
At Les Pommes you can sip a glass of wine after a busy workday or – after dinner – you can enjoy a drink made from calvados and vodka or choose from one of the craft beers produced by the Milan brewery.
You just have to try it, at any time!
