Osteria del Corso

Inside the Osteria del Corso, in Corso Garibaldi in Milan, there’s a strongly familiar atmosphere. Walking past the glass door beneath a black curtain overlooking one of the most beautiful streets in Milan, you are immediately welcomed by one of the memebers of the staff, all relatives of the owners, moving back and forth from the kitchen, while taking care of the servings and the counter. Just turn around and look at the table next to you, it won’t be hard to bump into some celebrities: football stars, coaches, sportspeople, or whatever showgirl is popular at the time.

The decor is simple: a large counter on the right for breakfast or drinking and then the main hall with a wall entirely covered by an exposition of wine bottles. Dark wooden tables are simply set up with white, easy-going runners. On the walls hang t-shirts signed by football players, photos of soubrettes and TV personalities. The environment is cozy, the service is done with care, without being too formal. Both the waiters and the owners are willing to start a conversation with their guests, making them feel almost like part of their family.

The menu offers traditional Italian cuisine, with high-quality ingredients and dishes that vary according to the availability of raw materials. Excellent are the Milanese cutlet and tartare, but also the smoked scamorza with grilled vegetables and the lobster linguine are also great. The kitchen is flexible, ready to face without even a churn the exigencies of the most difficult palates.

Osteria del Corso is perfect for a quick work lunch, but it’s great for the evening too, for a not-to-uptight dinner for two. And, who knows, maybe you’ll be lucky enough to find yourself close to your favorite footbal player.
