Volemose Bene – Ostaria Romana

A true Roman corner in Milan

Upon entering the Volemose Bene osteria, you will instantly have the sensation to be in Rome in one of those osterias that, thanks to their simplicity, make you discover a cuisine full of traditional, genuine flavors that were passed on generation to generation. We are in Milan, in Via della Moscova, and once you stepped through the door, you will be welcomed by the songs of Baglioni and Venditti (both true-born romans) and, of course, by the two owners.

The place is welcoming, suffused lights and checkered tablecloths, wooden chairs and all the typical furnishings of an easy-going osteria that aims only to the taste of its dishes and follows the roman tradition. The perfect place for a group dinner, or to go to with colleagues or just want to spend an evening having good food and a good time, with a service which is at the same time careful but not too formal or stiff.

Renounce your diet from the first moment, this is not the right place for light salads and those who abhor carbohydrates. You can see this when you sit at the table and you find a basket full with both the usual bread and the rosemary-flavored focaccia. Let’s start from the antipasti: of course, the Roman-style artichokes are mandatory, along with the “granny’s fried goods” (croquettes and supplis), the chicory sprout salad, porchetta with broccoli, cheeses and Bufala mozzarella. And these ar just the beginning.

You can’t renounce to a bucatini all’amatriciana dish or, if you prefer, the Gricia rigatoni. But you don’t want too feel guilty after the starters, you can order up the sliced beef (there are seven, one for each Roman king) or go for the tradional options like the roast lamb, the oxtail stew or the Roman tripe.

The menu is renewed daily, with new, seasonal proposals. Even the wine list is interesting with a lot of labels from Lazio. The price are totally affordable, with a great price-quality ratio. So you only have to go there and try it. After all, volemose bene!

We can't. That's why every week we share the best experiences milan has to offer.
