On the occasion of its 110th anniversary, the Sheraton Diana Majestic thought of celebrating the anniversary of the birth of the hotel in style. A significant birthday, over a century of history of one of the most elegant Milanese landmarks that has changed over time along with the city. A magnificent and impressive building, a location that over the decades has conquered generations of Milanese and international tourists while retaining its unique charm.
The Sheraton Diana Majestic boasts a long and prestigious past. It holds two records: back in 1842, The Bagno di Diana, the first public swimming pool in Italy was inaugurated here and the Albergo Diana, opened at the beginning of the last century, was the first hotel structure to be designed ad hoc without taking the place of pre-existing buildings. But it’s 1908, the year of the inauguration of the Kursaal Diana, the true year of birth of the structure. On that date Porta Venezia, at the time Porta Orientale, acquired a recreational complex devoted to entertainment consisting of a theater, a restaurant and a hotel created to animate the life of this historic district.
The celebrations of this special birthday begin Tuesday, May 8th, with the exclusive Garden Opening Cocktail Party, which, starting at 19 PM, celebrates every year the summer opening of its magnificent green oasis, the splendid private garden of the hotel. In order to best honor this special anniversary, in the months of June, July and September, Hotel Diana will also present a novelty conceived specifically for the occasion. On Thursday June 14th, July 19th and September 16th, the hotel will take its guests on a special journey back in time: Aperitivo900, in collaboration with Samanta Cornaviera of Massaie Moderne, a culinary archeology blog, offers an atypical menu that recovers ancient recipes inspired by vintage banquets like the D’Annunzio salad, the De Amici prawn croquettes and the Regina Elena ice-cream melon to let the guests experience the tastes and flavors of the last century.
Moreover, for the first time since its inauguration the Diana will be open throughout the month of August and will welcome its guests during the summer season with new appointments ready to give relief during the hot days in the beautiful garden, sheltered from the heat thanks to its rich vegetation and romantic blooming wisterias. The Saturday Detox Brunch is a healthy and light variation of the traditional Anglo-Saxon meal while the Sunday Diana Drunch offers the Milanese audience one of the latest gastronomic trends: the evening brunch, between lunch and dinner, from May to September, starting at 5:30 PM, with a rich sweet and savory buffet. The atmosphere of the Belle Epoque will also be the dominant theme of the final evening of Tuesday, October the 30th: a vintage banquet to relive the magic of the early years of the last century.
New appointments but also exclusive partnerships to celebrate this special occasion: Baxter has signed the interior design of the Diana Room Library, formerly known as Sala Diana, and the H Club that changes the outlook of its rooms with a mix of minimal shapes, natural tones and metal elements while Kettal is the signature of the outdoor furnishings of the wonderful garden. Finally, for a celebration in style, the Swiss fashion house Bally inaugurates a temporary exhibition for the first time to show the public 110 of its most iconic advertising posters commissioned every year to great artists.
The Sheraton Diana Majestic is an unmissable destination for a regenerating break from the summer temperatures and the hustle and bustle of the city and a unique location to relive the history and habits of the Milanese elites who for over a century have chosen the timeless charm of the hotel.
