Orso Laboratorio Caffè

A journey to discover the drink most loved by italians.

If you think coffee is a good choice not only early in the morning before work, you should definitely take the time to stop at Orso Laboratorio Caffè. This is the temple of coffee, a place for lovers and curiosity, for those who are unsatisfied with the usual espresso (which they offer, and it’s delicious).

Finding yourself in the lively district of San Salvario, the theater of Turin nightlife and an incredible mix of people and cultures, it’s right there. A stone’s throw away from Valentino Park, where Marcella and Alessandro Minelli of Torrefazione Giuliano Caffè decided to open up their new shop. Not just a common bar. A place of research, exploration and dissemination of the coffee culture.

Orso resembles a small sitting room suspended in time. Decorated with wood, marble and wallpaper with floral motifs. It is in every self-respecting coffee shop that ceramic cups are not missing: all resting or hanging along the walls of the main hall, strictly numbered and labeled with the name of the owner. Because, as far as buying is concerned, quality is sufficient.

On a green blackboard is a huge planisphere pointed by wires of different colors that is the country of origin of a certain coffee to the distributor, on the other, all the different varieties of Orso Caffè.

Explore tastes and places around the world through the different artisan blends and single-origin brews: from the Burbon Santa Cruz Honduras coffee with a hint of cocoa and fruit, to the Nepalese from Mount Everest with an intense and spicy body, reaching the kilimanjaro with a sweet and penetrating aroma hinting of apricot and toasted almonds. There are so many options including a siphon, v60, aeropress, french press or many others that turn Orso bartenders into real alchemists in search of the perfect brew.

Obviously on this journey around the world you can’t stop with the baristas. Taking it one step further the authentic ciceroni will guide you, explain and advise you to your liking. Creating just the perfect brew made with wisdom and always with a smile.

Before leaving, do not forget to look at the bottom of your cup. Each cup is assigned a number and the number holds a meaning. You just have to find out what it means and what awaits you for the rest of your day!

We can't. That's why every week we share the best experiences turin has to offer.
