L’Antica Pizzeria da Michele

The holy sanctuary of the pizza arrives in Milan

If you have recently been to the Repubblica area and noticed a certain overcorwding, do not worry, everything is under control: the Antica Pizzeria da Michele has finally opened in Milan. Finally because, anyone in the world, and us Italians above all, even those who have never been to Naples, know the name of Michele and know what his pizza means (and if you’ve tasted it, then, it’s another story).

The tradition of this very Italian family of master pizza makers Condurro was founded back in 1870 in the heart of Naples, in Forcella to be exact, and in no time it became “The sacred temple of pizza” that still continues to chop pizzas, grind queues at the entrance and satisfy the palate of true lovers of the most “Made in Italy” product of them all.

The opening of Milan is not surprising, because it follows a project to export the Neapolitan tradition all over the world, started by the Condurro family with the opening of the venues in Tokyo and Fukuoka in Japan, and touching cities such as London, Barcelona, Rome and the northern and severe Milan. The aim of this “Michele in the world” project brings with it the will to transmit the culture and the noble art of pizza in the world and let everyone know pizza “as it should be”, with its flavors and its tradition .

With its 170 seats, the Milan venue (which took the place of the other famous but less historic Ricci) has been called the most elegant pizzeria in the world, having kept almost unchanged the structure of its predecessor, and churns out the classic pizzas that have marked its history and success: very thin, very large, very tasty. The menu, in fact and fortunately, didn’t take a Milanese turn at all and presents itself in the classic, restricted proposal but with rich results: four pizzas, margherita and marinara, of course, and the napoletana and the calzone, four appetizers and the super-Neapolitan fried pizza.

At the end of the dinner, the Bellavia dessert. The pizza is really good as they say, completely up to expectations, and instantly gives the feeling of being in Naples. That’s why even in the frantic Milan is willing, the poublic is more than willing to accept a bit of the queueing to try Michele’s pizza that from Naples is conquering the world.

We can't. That's why every week we share the best experiences milan has to offer.
