Using blown glass, hand-crafted ceramics and fine leather: all these materials used by the Hangar Design Group in their instalment for this year’s Salone del Mobile could not be more different. Yet the way in which they become subjected to geometric rules highlight how this design house has always valued precision in its creative process. Hangar Design Group invites you to see its latest creations in the event ‘Hangar Grammar: Shaping Matter’.
On display will be three pieces from the design house.
The first is the ‘Stone’ pendant lamp. Created in collaboration with the artisans from Vistosi (the famous glassblowers from Murano) this piece plays with the rounded shapes and proportions generally attributed to this kind of object. Here they are rigid and rendered in smoked glass, mimicking the static nature of stone.
The second piece is a limited edition travel mug designed for Milan’s La Rinascente. The Hangar Design Group pays tribute to one of the most beloved buildings and symbols of Milan. Strictly limited to a hundred pieces (to celebrate 100 years since the building’s realization), this piece was crafted in collaboration with Taiwan-based ACERA and will be available only in the design department store of La Rinascente in Piazza Duomo. The pieces recall the stunning arches of the building’s façade.
The last feature is the Tangram leather desk accessories executed by Bertoni. Finished in monochrome, these pieces use the purity of form and color which exemplify the sober stylistic language of Hangar Grammar.
This event is not to be missed. The event will be hosted at viale Bianca Maria 23 on 6 April 2017. Request your invitation here.
