This Milan Design Week, the Isola district takes center stage. Making its debut from the 4th to the 9th of April, Isola Design District will be giving young designers and emerging brands the chance to showcase their wares.
Isola Design District is a local marketing enterprise supported by the Municipality of Milan that highlights the historic and artistic heritage of this up-and-coming neighborhood. Isola Design District will host not only local designers, such as Paolo Ulian, Lorenzo Damiani, Donata Paruccini but many internationally renowned artists including award-winning Kensaku Orshiro.
The project also seeks to create opportunities for young creatives by playing host to the Milan Design Market. Now in its second year the Milan Design Market will be exhibiting 30 designers from different parts of the world, and showcasing the processes used by these young designers. There will even be a 6 Axis Robot demonstrating its 3D printing abilities.
Students will play an integral part in the Isola Design District, thanks to the extensive collaboration of Politecnico di Milano, one of Italy’s foremost universities for design.
With a focus on sustainability and green design there will be an installation by Offi in its botany lab in via Carmagnola, as well as an exhibit from the Caracol Design Studio featuring a Suspended Garden.
However, Isola Design District is more than just a design festival – it is also giving the opportunity for local businesses and restaurants to show off the district’s thumping vitality. Restaurants like Capra e Cavoli will be hosting indoor exhibitions and indoor installations, while the artists’ residence O’ will set the scene for a number of live performances and concerts.
As a proud media partner of the Isola Design District, Flawless Milano is your first port of call for finding out the best events, exhibits, parties and concerts to see this year.
